Congratulations to young Islander, Danny Briggs, who made history today, by being the youngest cricketer from Hampshire (who he plays for) to represent England in Dubai.
As we mentioned at the beginning of the month, Danny was chosen to join the England team after an outstanding season last year.
Today, the 20 year old from the Isle of Wight played his part against Pakistan in the fourth One Day International in Dubai.
We’re told that he finished with ten overs and two wickets for 39 runs.
Sportsman of the Year
But wait, the good news doesn’t end there for the Island’s sporting hero.
We’re also told by his friends that on Monday night he was awarded Sportsman of the Year Award at The News Sports Awards.
Thanks to all the readers who wrote in to let us know about Danny’s award and first match and congratulations Danny!
