Date set for Open Farm Sunday 2022 event

Farmers and growers are poised to open their gates next month for a series of Open Farm Sunday events that provide people with an unforgettable day out down on the farm.

Open Farm Sunday on 12th June is co-ordinated by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and is actively supported by the NFU.

The event helps consumers learn how farmers care for the countryside while producing safe, wholesome food to world-class standards. Visitors can also find out more about how to buy British, thanks to the NFU.

Munt: A wonderful opportunity to find out where your food comes from
Isle of Wight NFU chair Robyn Munt, from Newport, says,

“Open Farm Sunday is a great event and a wonderful opportunity to meet us farmers and find out more about where your food comes from.

“Visitors can see our crops, cattle and sheep up close, and enjoy a tractor and trailer tour of the stunning landscapes we look after.”

The story of milk from field to fridge
Among others, the story of milk from field to fridge will be outlined on Open Farm Sunday when the Griffin family of Briddlesford Lodge Farm, Wootton on the Isle of Wight open their gates.

Fruit farms such as The New Forest Fruit Company, at East Boldre, in Hampshire, will help people to learn more about how strawberries are grown, helped by beneficial insects.
