Delegated decision to approve sale of St Nicholas House

The sale of another council-owned building has gone to Cllr George Brown for delegated decision.

George Brown:As part of the council’s transformation programme for a reduction in office accommodation, St Nicholas House in Newport is being recommended for sale to the highest bidder for £565,000.

Paperwork reveals that the property, on the junction of St Johns Road and Whitepit Lane, Newport, is in use by the council as office accommodation. It’s mainly occupied by the Fire and Rescue Service who will relocate to the main Newport fire station in November. Other council services using the offices will coincide their move around this date too.

Planning approval for development
The sale comes with planning approval for the demolition of the main existing buildings and the development of four pairs of three storey four bedroom semi-detached houses, plus conversion of the chalet building into a chalet bungalow.

The decision will be made sometime after 22nd August. Full report embedded below for your convenience.
