Southampton based wedding caterers ‘Vanilla Catering and Events’ were delighted to present a cheque for the delicious total of £1,741 to Mari-Louise White from the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
They raised this fantastic amount of money by donating 20p from every meal they’ve served in the last year to the charity that supports young people who are recovering from cancer.
Last year Vanilla catered for over a hundred weddings, which largely contributed to the total donation. The amount of money raised equated to 8,705 guests. Other contributing events included the Winchester Business Excellence Awards, the Mayor’s Ball and even a Harry Potter themed Christmas Party.
Supporting the Trust was an obvious choice
Sally Pickles of Vanilla Catering and Events explained why she chose to donate to the Trust, “Vanilla chose the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust as their charity for the year as we do like to support Hampshire charities. I come from the Isle of Wight and am a keen sailor the Trust was an obvious choice.”
Background of Ellen MacArthur Trust
The Trust is a charity that supports young people aged between 8-24 who are recovering from cancer and other serious illnesses.
Launched in 2003 by Dame Ellen MacArthur, the Trust’s main activity is taking young people on four-day sailing trips to help them rebuild their confidence, giving the young people a chance to test themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
It costs £500 to provide a young person with the opportunity to sail with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, the money raised by Sally and her team at Vanilla Catering and Events will make a huge difference to some young lives.
