Paul Knights from Ventnor has been in touch, keen to know whether any OnTheWight readers saw the same meteorite that he did last night (a little like the photo above – taken elsewhere).
He said,
“At 7.45pm (Sunday night) as I was putting out the rubbish, I was admiring the clear starry sky and suddenly noticed a shooting star, but rapidly developing and much brighter than what I’ve seen before.
“Then the trail turned bright orange and increased dramatically in length before disappearing. Five or six seconds maybe. No sound of course.
“It appeared in the East approx 45 degree up and moved more or less in a vertical (top to bottom) direction.”
Paul says that he has reported the sighting to UK meteorite network, but is waiting to hear back.
He’s curious to know if anyone else saw it.
