Dinosaur Island App trail: Blackgang Chine location

The Blackgang Chine meteorite (actually placed at the Blackgang View point car park) on the Dinosaur Island App trail will give you one of the best view on the Island.

If you’re looking for one of the most stunning views on the Isle of Wight, you’ll be delighted when you find yourself at Blackgang Chine View Point (off the Blackgang Road A3055) on the Dinosaur Island App trail.

On a clear day, not only can you see the Military Road snaking down the Back of the Wight (that’s what the South side of the Island is sometimes called by Islanders), but you’ll see the chalk cliffs at Freshwater – and if you’re really lucky, the Dorset coastline to the left.

The Meteorite is placed at the right hand corner of the car park as you drive in.

If you feel like some exercise, cross the road (carefully) and walk up the wooden staircase. From the top of these you’ll see what is know locally as the ‘Pepper Pot’. It should only take you 20-30 minutes to walk up there and on a clear day you’ll be rewarded with a stunning view.
