A heron in the water in Bonchurch

Discover the beauty of bird-watching with the latest film by Isle of Wight filmmaker Paul Knights

Bird lovers will enjoy the latest work by Isle of Wight short film maker, Paul Knights.

Over the years Paul has shared a variety of short films, some focusing on individuals, others on nature. Paul’s latest short film was shot along the revetment from Wheelers Bay to Bonchurch last weekend.

The hungry heron
He’d wanted to check out the low Spring tide there and was delighted to see a heron feeding from the rock pools along with a couple of egrets.

Paul told News OnTheWight,

“The light was gorgeous and the forecast was similar for the following day so I returned the next day with a long lens and tripod.

“The egrets were there again on the second day, but too evasive for me to capture anything on film. The heron however, was more obliging (not so nervous?) and it was great being able to observe and film him (or her!) doing some fishing.

“To be honest I never set out expecting to get such a selection of clips in a relatively short space of time, but the light was great and it didn’t take much moving around to see a new interesting perspective on the scenes and subjects as I peered through the viewfinder.”
