At the beginning of the month a time capsule was buried at Ryde Academy on the site of the new STEM building.
The time capsule has been buried for 50 years and will resurface in 2066, when those custodians of the school will discover a mobile phone from 2016, exam papers, coins, Isle of Wight Day bunting and much more.
Buried in the 1960s
Apparently a time capsule was buried before the construction of the three story block at Ryde Secondary Modern (as it was then known) in the 1960s.
The problem is that no-one seems to remember exactly where it was buried and no records can be found. The school are keen to locate it before the building is demolished.
