Hopefully ‘stepped up’ rather than ‘stepped in’. This in from the council, in their own words. Ed

Dog PooAdditional patrols to crack down on dog walkers who don’t clear up after their pets are taking place in an area of Cowes.

Following concerns raised by residents, IW Council Dog Wardens will undertake extra patrols in the town, especially between Love Lane and Seaview Road with support from police, council environment officers and Medina Housing.

On the spot fine
Anyone caught not cleaning up after their dog could be given an on the spot fine of £75.

Dogs mess is also a health hazard and only last year there was a case in Manchester where a young girl was almost blinded after falling onto dog mess in a playground and rubbing her eyes.

The council provides dog waste bins across the Island, although if you clear up the mess and cannot find a dog bin, you can put the bag in a general litter bin.
