Letter: Law change for DNA testing of dogs could tackle Nationwide issue of dog mess

How is it that we still have people leaving their dog’s mess on pavements on the Isle of Wight? (and beyond)

There cannot be a single person (even those not clearing up after their own dogs) who isn’t disgusted if they’re unfortunate enough to step in some – not to mention the issue for those with prams or wheelchairs.

Given that, how about there’s a change in the current law so that all dogs must have their DNA recorded and stored. It seems this can be done for not much less than £100.

Any dog mess that’s found is sent for testing, then the fine can be posted directly to the owner. That’d stop them pretty sharpish.

I cannot think of a single reason why this isn’t done. Can you?
