Rudi Eastwood studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music and later conducting with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society in Russia. He currently divides his time between playing the piano, both as soloist and accompanist, teaching and conducting.
Passionate about his work
As someone who passionately believes that the art of music should be shared with the widest possible audience, he is also involved in a number of projects including a British Music festival in Russia and more locally, a new concert series in Petworth. Rudi currently lives in Sussex with his wife, Maria and two children, Ivo and Apollonia.
Rudi performs a wide range of repertoire ranging from Classical standards to works that have been unjustly neglected. He is always keen to perform new music and frequently collaborates with living composers.
Isle of Arts programme
For this recital, he has put together a programme of music that celebrates the talents of composers Edvard Grieg (Norway), Jean Sibelius (Finland), Heino Eller (Estonia) and Christian Sinding (Norway), while after the interval he heads eastward to bring us Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons, a set of twelve pieces for solo piano, each characteristic of a different month of the year in the northern hemisphere.
Rudi will be performing at St Catherine’s Church on Friday 2nd May from 7pm. See Events OnTheWight for more detail.
