Residents in Ventnor have raised concerns about the appearance of a drone flying nearby to their homes over the last couple of days (and nights).
Numerous residents have reported the appearance of a drone, with St Francis Primary School issuing a statement to parents that they had reported the incidents to the police.
A council exercise?
Some residents say they have been told the drone is part of an exercise by the council to carry out a survey of thermal loss from properties prior to a new insulation scheme.
Close to bedroom window
One resident told OnTheWight she suddenly spotted the drone very close to her bedroom window and called her husband to see. The drone then moved quickly away from the window but reappeared at the back of the house.
Response from authorities
OnTheWight has asked the council whether they are aware of the drones being flown on their behalf and will update once we hear back. We have also contacted the police to see if they know more.
