East Cowes fatal road traffic incident. Can you help?

Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which happened in East Cowes last night (1st March).

The collision, involving a Land Rover and a Vauxhall Corsa, happened just after 8pm on Whippingham Road.

The driver of the Corsa, a 46-year-old man from East Cowes, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Land Rover, a 44-year-old man, was taken by road ambulance to St Mary’s Hospital. He suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision or either vehicle prior to the incident to come forward as they may have information which may assist the investigation.
