Fabulous fireworks, a fundraising firewalk and a night of family fun, all raising money for Mountbatten

Fabulous fireworks, a fundraising firewalk and a night of family fun are on offer at a new event organised by the Isle of Wight Festival, Mountbatten and Isle of Wight Radio.

The Island’s first-ever Fairlee fireworks will take place at North Fairlee Farm in Newport on Saturday 5th November and a limited number of tickets have gone on sale today (Friday, 30th September).

Raising raise money for Mountbatten
Featuring a fire show, live music, a bonfire, crowdeoke, food vendors, bars and a firework finale, the family event will raise money for Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

Take on the firewalk challenge
One of the highlights will be the fundraising firewalk – a barefoot walk across red hot coals.

Sponsored by Wight Fire and Security, the charity is looking for more than 100 adrenaline junkies to take on the challenge – or put their boss in the firing line.

Mountbatten CEO Nigel Hartley and festival organiser Caroline Giddings are leading by example and are among those who will brave the heat to raise funds for Mountbatten.

Live music and crowdeoke
The event will be hosted by Paul, Hayley and Jamie from Isle of Wight Radio’s Breakfast Show and Island acts Foo Fighterz, 30Ten and The RUG Band will also perform on stage before a session of crowdeoke – an all-crowd karaoke singalong with a live band.

The fireworks will start at 8pm.

Giddings: Please give generously and let’s make it a 5th of November to remember
Festival organiser John Giddings said,

“We are so excited to be teaming up with Mountbatten and Isle of Wight Radio to bring you Fairlee Fireworks, it’s going to be a great night.

“We’re always keen to give something back to the Island community and Mountbatten is a cause close to everyone’s hearts.

“Please give generously and let’s make it a 5th of November to remember.”

Isle of Wight Radio’s Paul Topping said,

“We are delighted to be bringing a fantastic firework event back to the Island, with live entertainment for the whole family.”

£2 per person
Fairlee Fireworks tickets cost £2 per person and, due to limited numbers, pre-booking online is essential.

The ticket fee only covers the cost of putting on the event, so attendees are urged to donate more to Mountbatten when booking online or at the gate on the night.

Hartley: What a way to celebrate our 45th anniversary year!
Mountbatten CEO Nigel Hartley added,

“What a way to celebrate our 45th anniversary year!

“We’re very proud to play our part in bringing this event to the Island and we’re so grateful for everyone’s support.

“Every penny raised on the night is vital in helping us support Islanders affected by death, dying and bereavement.”

You can buy tickets to Fairlee Fireworks and sign up to the Firewalk online via the Website.
