Fatality At Military Road Crash (Updated)

It has emerged that the crash on the Military Road yesterday tragically resulted in a fatality.

Fatality At Military Road Crash (Updated)As a car was travelling from Chale, a motorbike crashed into it, as the car turned right across the path of the oncoming motorbike.

The passenger in the oncoming car, a 23-year-old woman from Freshwater, died at the scene.

The 22-year-old Newport male who was riding the motorbike was airlifted to the Neurological unit at Southampton hospital. This morning, he remains in intensive care.

The driver, a 23-year-old man also from Freshwater, suffered minor injuries and was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital overnight for observation.

The road was closed for nine hours while the aftermath of the crash was dealt with and investigations were carried out.

Our thoughts to the families who have been affected by this crash.

Appeal for witnesses
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles prior to it.
