Thanks to Louise for sharing details of this year’s FestiviTea party. In her own words. Ed

FestiviTea logoMembers of the Cowes division of the Isle of Wight (IOW) National Autistic Society (NAS) are rolling up their sleeves and baking up a storm in anticipation of their very own cupcake themed FestiviTea party, to raise money for children with autism and their families on the IOW.

The party will take place at Cowes Enterprise College on 1st December. All local residents are encouraged to attend and help raise vital funds to support people with autism and their families in the area.

Great opportunity for the community get together
Sarah Probert, mother of a child with autism and one of the organisers of the event, said: “Our FestiviTea Party is going to be a great opportunity for the community to get together and raise money for the IOW branch of the NAS simply by sharing a cuppa and a cake. We decided to make it exclusively cupcakes as they have made a comeback lately and people really enjoy making them.

“As well all the yummy cakes, there will also be a raffle of prizes donated by local businesses and a few other Christmas activities and special guests. We hope to see as many people as possible there on the day, having fun and raising vital funds to help support those families in the Cowes area affected by autism. ”

All money raised going to good cause
Louise Foley, Branch Officer of the IOW branch of the NAS, said: “We’re delighted that Cowes Autism Support Group has organised this tasty event in aid of our branch. All money raised will go towards helping us continue supporting children with autism of all ages and their parents across the Island.

“Christmas can be a stressful time for many families, but it can be extremely difficult for the half a million people affected by autism, who can often become confused and frightened by sudden changes of routine, unusual foods and new social activities. We need your help to continue to provide vital support and services for individuals and families affected by autism across the UK.”

One of many nationwide
This local event is one of many FestiviTea parties being organised nationwide, in homes, community centres and workplaces. FestiviTea is a chance to celebrate the festive season and raise vital funds for the NAS by combining three very simple ingredients: tea, cake and friends!
