The Environment Agency have updated their Flood Alert for the Eastern Yar.
The update reads:
The water levels throughout the Eastern Yar valley continue to fall slowly. In the past 24 hours, only small amounts of rain have fallen. The levels at Alverstone have now peaked and fallen. At Langbridge and Alverstone, we are not expecting any further impacts and the river will return to normal here within the next 24 hours.
At Sandown, levels remain high, but are very slowly falling. Flooding of Golf Links Road and Moreton Common Road, Sandown, is likely to continue over the next 24 hours. Ditches around Fort Holiday Park will struggle to drain while river levels are high.
Today (Monday 29/04/2024) and Tuesday (30/04/2024) are expected to be dry. From Wednesday (01/05/2024) onwards, more unsettled weather is expected, bringing further rainfall. This additional rainfall will maintain the responsive nature of the Eastern Yar catchment.
We will continue to monitor the forecast and will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages. Avoid walking or driving through flood water.
