Boy, this is some drought we’re having. Thanks to VB reader John Marr for alerting us to a ‘Flood Alert’ which has been issued today by the Environment Agency for Monktonmead Brook.
They say that flooding is possible at Monktonmead Brook in Ryde and that low lying land and roads will be affected first. We understand that Environment Agency staff are currently on site at Monktonmead Pumping Station.
Heavy Rainfall over the past four hours has led to a rapid rise in river level. Further heavy rainfall is expected throughout the rest of the day so local flooding directly from the river is possible.
