Tomorrow sees another Foodbank collection take place on the Isle of Wight.
The next supermarket to come on board, following Waitrose in East Cowes, is Morrisons.
Volunteers will be collecting donations from customers at the Newport branch tomorrow (19th July) from around 9.30am.
UPDATE: 20.Jul.2011 – The Foodbank organisers rang VB earlier to let us know that they collected 659.4Kg of food at Morrisions yesterday. Well done Newport!
Non-perishable items very welcome
If you’re shopping there tomorrow, please consider donating a few non-perishable items that can go towards the three-day food parcels that are made up for those in need on the Island.
The last collection, that took place on 9th July at Waitrose in East Cowes, gathered a whopping 669Kg of food from donations, so well done to everyone who gave, no matter how small or large.
New distribution point
Project Coordinator, Hannah King also told us that the first Foodbank distribution point will open on the Island on 26th July.
This will be at the St Andrew’s Christian Centre, Bridge Road, Cowes.
