Police and Isle of Wight Council have joined together with the Dogs Trust to provide free dog microchipping sessions in the following venues, on the dates and times below:

Saturday 15th February 2014
10.00am – 1.00pm at Victoria Street Spar shop, Ventnor

Sunday 16th February 2014
12.00pm – 3.00pm at Fort Street car park, Sandown

Saturday 15th March 2014
10,00am – 1.00pm at Avenue Road car park, Freshwater

Sunday 16th March 2014
12.00pm – 3.00pm Vectis Road, East Cowes (opposite Pavillion)

Dog Microchipping is a widely recognised method of permanent identification. That number is then logged against the owner’s details on the Petlog database; so that they are easily traceable should they be lost.

Newport Safer Neighbourhoods Team Officer, PC Olivia Peachey said:

“I would advise anyone who has a dog to take advantage of these free microchipping sessions. If your pet is ever lost and then found, it will be quick and easy to trace the owner if it has been chipped. It takes a few minutes and doesn’t cost anything; what better way to ensure you keep your dog safe?

“The sessions are open to all island residents and there is no limit to the amount of dogs you can bring along.”
