Readers may remember the work of Penny Brohn Cancer Care mentioned last month when we wrote about Sue Cassidy Burgin and the Life Well Lived project.
The first (pilot) Penny Brohn “Living Well with the impact of Cancer” course runs next week at the beautiful Lake Hotel in Bonchurch for up to 12 participants.
Unfortunately, one couple has had to drop out for medical reasons, so there is a spare place gong for any Island resident over 18 who has or is recovering from cancer.
The course includes two days full board accommodation is offered free of charge.
The course may help you:
- Manage stress through relaxation and simple breathing exercises
- Cope with the emotional and psychological impact of cancer and its treatment
- Find out about how to prepare and enjoy healthy food
- Find a way to bring manageable exercise into your life
- Discuss the impact of a cancer diagnosis on relationships
- Consider how living with cancer a affects our deepest values and beliefs
- Receive basic information on financial welfare.
There is also the opportunity to stay for two nights at the lovely Lake Country House Bed and Breakfast. Staying overnight will give you the opportunity to step away from everyday responsibilities and focus on yourself and your needs.
