Free weekly workshops for young Islanders kick off across the Isle of Wight

Aspire Creative Hub has launched a new creative music project for young people aged 12-17. Sound Choices – Music for Change, is now running at multiple venues across the Isle of Wight, and all for free.

Offering songwriting, recording, performance, and production, young people are supported to express themselves, build confidence, and make positive choices in a safe and supportive environment.

A new location every Friday
Sound Choices sessions are now underway and run every Friday, 3.30pm-5.30pm, rotating weekly across locations in Ryde, Shanklin, and Cowes, with a Newport workshop in the pipeline.

RYDE sessions will take place on the first Friday of every month (6th February, 6th March, 3rd April, 1st May, and so on) at the flagship Aspire Creative Hub venue, the well-equipped rehearsal space at Aspire Ryde, Dover Street, Ryde, PO33 2BN.

SHANKLIN sessions will be the second Friday of the month (13th February, 13th March, 10th April, 8th May, etc.) at the new Shanklin Creative Hub and Family Centre at Furzehill Road, Shanklin, PO37 7PA.

Sound Choices workshops for COWES will take place on the third Friday of the month (20th February, 20th March, 17th April, 15th May, etc.) at the Cowes Family Centre on Love Lane, Cowes, PO31 7ET.

What to expect
Young people can expect:

  • Creative music workshops, including songwriting, recording, performance and production.
  • Mentoring focused on confidence, resilience, and positive choices
  • Guest sessions with musicians, producers, and positive role models
  • Opportunities to perform at community events and festivals
  • Progression support into education, volunteering, or creative pathways
