Freshwater Parish Council awards £3,000 grant to West Wight Churches Youth Project

Freshwater Parish Council were very pleased to approve a community grant of £3,000 to West Wight Churches Youth Project.

West Wight Churches Youth Project bring young people together and connect them with others their own age. West Wight Churches Youth Project has been running for ten years.

A passion to see young people’s lives change
As a partnership between Churches Together West Wight and Isle of Wight Youth for Christ, they are passionate about seeing young people’s lives changed by Jesus.

They have a team of amazing volunteers from local churches, led by Part-Time Youth Worker Faye Smith, and managed by a Management Team.

Supporting Youth Group trips
The funding from the parish Council will help go towards Youth Group trips to JR Zone, Skates, Headhunters, Resound Youth Event in Dorset and Dreaming the Impossible Festival.

It will also help with refreshments and updating equipment such as Xbox controllers, board games and table tennis bats.

Thomas: It’s amazing that we have such a wonderful youth provision
Freshwater Parish Council Chair, Councillor Emma Cox and Chair of Finance, Councillor Natalie Thomas were invited to come along to a drop in evening and see what happens at the Youth Club.

Natalie said,

“As a local Freshwater mum it is amazing that we have such a wonderful youth provision available in the West Wight.

“My daughter is really enjoying the time and space to connect with her friends out of school.”
