Don’t miss the opportunity to support the proposed Freshwater Skatepark and Pump Track by bidding for some of the 43 skateboard decks turned into works of art by local artists.
Bidding closes 8pm on Saturday 9th May
The amazing creations are currently being auctioned to raise funds for the skateboard park with the hammer finally coming down at 8pm on Saturday 9th May 2026.
Winners announced at Royal Solent Yacht Club
The winning bids will be revealed at a special auction evening held at the Royal Solent Yacht Club in Yarmouth and sponsored by Wightlink, who are also hosting a display of the skateboards at their Lymington terminal.
Nearly £5,000 raised so far
Currently nearly £5,000 has been bid for the decks, with new offers coming in all the time. The highest current bid is £460 for Nautical Compass, a maritime triptych created by local artist Zoe Sadler.
You can see all the boards and make a bid via the auction website.
Community skatepark planned for Stroud Recreation Ground
Led by Freshwater Parish Council, the Skatepark and Pump Track at Stroud Recreation Ground will create a durable, community-focused asset that caters to riders of all ages and skill levels. Work on what is intended to be a lively community space for families, tourists and locals alike should begin this year in the autumn.

What the organisers say
Councillor Caroline Pakel who chairs the project committee said,
“We were amazed by the stunning skateboard deck designs created by the artists, and we have continued to be thrilled by the bids that have come in.
“These really are unique works of art, and we would hate people to miss out on the chance of owning one – there is still time to bid and, in doing so, support the Skatepark project.”

Caroline added,
“This has really become a project that has inspired the community and become a real team effort – our thanks to everyone who has shown their support.”
David Williams from Wightlink,
“We have been so impressed with the vision and drive behind this project and are delighted to support it. We’ve been outbid for one of the boards – but we’ll be back with a new bid before 9th May!”
