Isle of Wight-based charity, Independent Arts, have received funding of £500 from Localgiving and Postcode Society Trust, a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
The funding boost will enable the ‘arts for wellbeing’ charity to increase their free-to-attend workshops in their Creative Hub, including adding an additional Creative Cafe on Monday afternoons.
Funding supports afternoon session
Independent Arts CEO, Lisa Gagliani MBE, said,
“Since we returned to face-to-face activities in our Creative Hub, our Monday morning Creative Cafe workshops have been oversubscribed and operating a waiting list, this funding from Localgiving and Postcode Society Trust will enable us to add an afternoon session, reducing the waiting list and helping us to support as many Island residents as possible.”
What is Creative Cafe?
Creative Cafe is an opportunity for older people to meet for creative activity over a cup of tea. Our wide range of activities includes iPads, Art and Craft, Photography, Movement, Creative Writing and much more.
The new Creative Cafe sessions will be running for an hour, every Monday from 13.30, with activities including wreath making, Christmas card designing and coffee and chat sessions.
All taking place at Independent Arts Creative Hub, 48/49 High Street, Newport, sessions are free to attend, though donations are welcome.
