Hey, it’s election day!
OK, the general level of attention paid to these Police and Crime Commissioner elections is strikingly low.
Given it could directly have an impact on the personal safety of everyone – this person will be setting Policing priorities – it makes it all the more worrying.
Your vote matters
The major focus of the National media seems to have been on how low the turnout is going to be. If that is the case, each person who does cast a vote will have a disproportionate effect on the outcome – providing all the more reason to get out and do it.
Come on people, this is important.
Help with making your choice
If you’re not familiar with who is standing, there’s an independent Website that holds detail about them all.
If you’re still not sure on who you want to cast your two votes for (yes, you get to chose your first and second choice), there’s a very useful feature that lets you easily compare any of the candidates against each other on the following questions:-
- What is your vision for policing in Hampshire?
- Why should people in Hampshire vote for you?
- What inspired you to stand as a Police & Crime Commissioner?
- Why are you qualified to be the Police & Crime Commissioner?
- What one thing would you like to change about local policing if you were elected?
- What would be your top three crime priorities if you are elected?
- What is your most memorable personal experience of policing in Hampshire?
- How do you view your role in the criminal justice system beyond policing?
