Readers may remember the news we reported back in February that the number of donors on the Isle of Wight is above the national average.
We were pleased to hear from Brian Norgate at Blood Donor service that “We always get walk-ins from your site and the Isle of Wight is an incredible place for donors way.”
We’ve just finished adding details of all the sessions taking place in May, so if you’re wondering where and when you can donate blood, check out EventsOnTheWight.
Once you’ve donated your blood, BDS separate the blood into red cells, white cells and platelets, so each donation can save up to three lives.
According to Brian they return about 300 units of red cells to the Island each month and it is used in operations, road traffic incidents or care of patients.
