Southern Vectis is celebrating this week – after parent company Go South Coast was named Large Bus Operator of the Year in the RouteOne awards.
Southern Vectis managing director, Andrew Wickham, said,
“I am extremely proud of this achievement, and I’d like to thank all of my colleagues at Southern Vectis for their monumental effort over the past year.
“It is not possible to achieve this level of success without a huge amount of talent, dedication and hard work – and my team has this in abundance. We pride ourselves on the fact that we continuously seek new ways to improve the services we offer.”
The award is also a nod to Southern Vectis’ efforts to reduce congestion and improve air quality across the Island.
Wickham: Invested heavily in new buses
Andrew added,
“This is an important aspect of what we do.
“We have made it our mission to encourage more people to travel by bus because just one fully loaded double decker has the potential to take up to 75 cars off the road.
“In order to do this, we have invested heavily in new buses, all equipped with the latest low emissions Euro 6 engine. The new vehicles also boast comfortable seating, USB chargers and contactless tap on, tap off ticketing technology – which makes them a more attractive proposition for our current customers, and for those considering leaving their cars at home.
“All this, combined with our focus on improving the frequency and reliability of our services still further, is steadily increasing the number of bus journeys made here.”
