Police are now in a position to confirm the identity of a man who died after a road traffic collision on the Isle of Wight.
Andrew David O’Neill was pronounced dead at the scene after a collision involving his wheelchair and a Vauxhall Frontera 4×4.
Driver arrested
The collision happened at approximately 10.40pm on Saturday, July 28, 2012 on Newport Road near the village of Godshill on the Island.
Mr O’Neill, aged 32 from Godshill, was formally identified by next-of-kin on Sunday, July 29, 2012. A post-mortem examination is due to be held later this week.
The Vauxhall driver, a 27-year-old man from Rookley, Isle of Wight, was not injured.
He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and later bailed until November 28, 2012 pending further enquiries.
