Bestival-goers will travel in comfort before and after their weekend under canvas this year – thanks to a bespoke shuttle bus service taking them right up to the festival gates.
To and from ferry ports
Isle of Wight operator Southern Vectis is running shuttle buses from the ferry ports to the Bestival site on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 September, before making return trips on Sunday and throughout the night until the last Bestival go-er leaves on Monday.
With tickets priced at £6 for a single or £12 return, visitors can enjoy the weekend reassured their transport is ready to go when they are. And with buses running frequently, connecting with every ferry at Ryde, East Cowes, Cowes and Yarmouth, customers can save their queuing for the Portaloos and beer tents.
Newport shuttle bus
Southern Vectis is also running a Bestival shuttle into Newport at £3.50 for an adult single and £2 for a child single – ideal for making a dash for emergency wellies, barbecue supplies or the cashpoint – as well as for fair-weather campers heading home to their own beds.
For Bestival customers living or staying on the Island, Southern Vectis are operating a frequent shuttle from Newport (Church Litten) from Thursday then every day until Monday.
The shuttle will run until 3am on Friday and Saturday nights with onward connections via night buses from Newport. On Sunday late night shuttles will run to main towns direct from Bestival.
Special Bestival shuttle stops have been installed at Newport, Ryde, Cowes, East Cowes and Yarmouth ports, so passengers know exactly where to go. Tickets can be bought in cash from the ticket sellers or the drivers at the ferry ports and festival site bus station.
More staff to help passengers
Matt Kitchin, general manager of Southern Vectis, said,
“We work closely with festival organisers to offer safe, convenient and comfortable transport to and from the arena so visitors can enjoy the event without having to worry how they are going to travel the last leg of their trip.
“Our popular festival shuttle buses have been fine-tuned over the years, serving longer hours and with more vehicles – with more space for luggage and easier accessibility.
“We take on board any ideas from customers on how to make this unique service even better. We’ve brought more drivers over to the Island, there will be more staff to help customers load and unload.”
