The Environment Agency have issued another flood alert for the Isle of Wight today (Tuesday).
This second alert, for Gurnard Luck, was issued at 3.38pm and reads:
The water level in the Gurnard Luck at Marsh Road is high and rising. In the last 12 hours, 12mm of rain has been recorded at Cowes. This is a modest amount, but it follows a period of prolonged wet weather. High tide at Cowes was at 14:57 this afternoon.
“From 16:15 properties situated nearest to the river in Marsh Road will experience garden flooding. The river will continue to rise until 18:00 before it can drain with the lowering tide.
“Small amounts of rain are forecast for the remainder of today. Tomorrow (03/01/2024), the weather will remain dry.
“However, further rainfall is forecast for Thursday (04/01/2024). We continue to monitor the forecast. We will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages.
“While water levels are high, please keep away from the river at Gurnard Road Bridge. Water will be deep and fast flowing.”
