garden waste in a wheelbarrow

Have your garden waste collected from the kerbside to save you a trip to the tip

Get your garden spring ready by refreshing your garden waste subscription.

Customers are being reminded to spring into action and renew their garden waste subscription which runs from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023.

Automatic renew for DD payers
If you pay by direct debit, this should automatically renew and you will receive an email confirming your payment details for 2022. Please double check payment details are up to date by logging into your iwight.com account.

If you pay annually by card, we will shortly be sending you an email with details on how to re-subscribe, so please check your emails, including your junk folder.

The optional fortnightly scheme lets customers subscribe online for a 240-litre wheeled bin or three re-usable hessian sacks to be picked up from the kerbside for a total cost of £96 per year, working out at less than £4 a fortnight.

Bacon: Takes the hassle out of driving to the tip
Cllr Jonathan Bacon, Cabinet lead for environment, waste and heritage, said,

“Let us continue making your gardening life easier by re-subscribing for your garden waste collection this year.

“Picked up from your doorstep, it takes the hassle out of driving to the tip and putting heavy wet garden waste in your car boot.”

Dix: All garden waste collected is composted locally
Natasha Dix, strategic manager for contracts, waste and environment, said,

“Our garden waste scheme has always been popular and we are encouraging our current customers to make sure they renew annual subscriptions to reserve their space.

“All garden waste collected is composted locally here on the Island and contributes to our national recycling targets.

“Don’t forget you can always sign up first and then share the cost and load with your neighbour. Alternatively, composting at home is always a low carbon option that is great for your veg patch.”

What you can recycle
The council will accept all garden waste such as leaves, grass cuttings and sticks. Please no logs, rubble or soil.

Your garden waste service is a ‘one-stop shop’ meaning you do not have to call for collection each time.
