Help Find Missing Teenager, Luke Cowan, In Time For His 18th Birthday

Appeal To Find Missing Teenager, Luke Cowan In Time For His 18th Birthday17 year old Luke Cowan has been missing since 16 June 2009.

Depiste renewed appeals from the Piolice and many searches carried out by friends and family, sadly there has still be no sign of Newport teenager.

A fresh appeal comes out today in the hope that Luke can be found before his 18th birthday on Monday 25th July.

His disappearance is described as “totally out-of-character” by his family.

Luke’s father, Larry Cowan, said: “I’d been making plans for Luke on his 18th birthday. Despite all the doubts about where he could be, I really hope Luke and I can spend this special day in his life together.

“There is a huge amount of support for Luke, not just on the Island, but across the country. I’ve received messages from friends in Chale Green where Luke grew up, and from relatives living in Weymouth, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and London.

“He’s not in any trouble with his family; we all love him and are asking him to put our minds at rest by making contact just to let us know directly that he’s safe and well.”

Luke Cowan’s mother, Michelle Knight, said: “I am desperate to hear from him in time for his 18th birthday. I love him so much, and I am beside myself with worry, thinking something has happened to him. Relatives are going out to look for him all the time.

“Luke has just become an uncle again with his sister Chantelle giving birth to a baby girl, Eloise, last week. His brother Lawrence is so sad. He’s going to Bridport to stay with Luke’s favourite auntie, Marie, because Lawrence says he can’t be at home on the island on Monday if Luke’s not home.

“I know Luke’s friends are all upset and worried; so many people have been asking after him, wondering what on earth could have happened to him.”

Luke is described as:

● 6 ft 2 ins tall
● Dark hair
● Blue eyes
● Freckles
● Broad build

Police, family and friends have distributed and displayed appeal posters for Luke right across the Isle of Wight.

The search is also now supported by national charity ‘Missing People’, which has published an appeal on its website.
