Five stars all around in the latest batch of food hygiene inspections on the Isle of Wight as inspectors dish out the top rating for twelve establishments.
Between April and June, Isle of Wight Council environmental health officers carried out the food hygiene inspections leading to the highest awards.
Following a period of pause over the height of the Covid pandemic last year officers are catching up carrying out the many examinations.

LB’s Boardwalk Cafe, Sandown – 5/5 (Very Good)
The cafe on Sandown Pier has maintained its high standards, having received a ‘very good’ mark in May 2018 after a 2/5 ‘improvement necessary’ rating in October 2016.

The Beach Hut, Shanklin – 5/5 (Very Good)
Since it opened, the hut on Shanklin Esplanade has retained its 5/5 rating through all of its food hygiene inspections.

Sizzlers, Ryde – 5/5 (Very Good)
The burger van in Nicholson Road, Ryde has managed to secure a top food hygiene rating again and has done in all of its inspections dating back to 2014.

Sandham Gardens Kiosk, Sandown – 5/5 (Very Good)
Inspected in May, the kiosk on Culver Parade received top marks across all three areas of the inspection.

Skynet Kiosk, Sandown – 5/5 (Very Good)
Skynet, joining Sandham Gardens on Culver Parade, has got a refreshment kiosk serving up the highest food hygiene standards across all inspection areas.

Summer Arcade Gift / Paper Shop, Shanklin – 5/5 (Very Good)
The retailers in Shanklin Esplanade were given the highest possible rating, with high scores across all three inspection areas.

Toppings, Shanklin – 5/5 (Very Good)
On Shanklin Esplanade, the ice cream parlour has been given the top food hygiene rating after an inspection in May.

The Link Kiosk, Cowes – 5/5 (Very Good)
Next to the Floating Bridge, on the West Cowes side, the cafe has scored highly across the three inspection areas to get its ‘very good’ rating.

The Food Hamper, Cowes – 5/5 (Very Good)
The cafe on Cowes High Street has improved its food hygiene rating from January 2019 when it received a four, ‘good’.

Rosalie’s, Cowes – 5/5 (Very Good)
The shop at the top of Cowes High Street was inspected in May and awarded the highest food hygiene rating, after scoring high in two of the three areas.

Poundland, Cowes – 5/5 (Very Good)
The newest Poundland store on the Island, on Cowes High Street, was inspected shortly after it opened and has been given the highest food hygiene rating.

Fountain Inn, Cowes – 5/5 (Very Good)
In their latest inspection, the Inn on Cowes High Street has reached its highest rating since September 2014. It received a 1/5 (major improvement necessary) rating in July 2017 and the establishment has had two 3/5 ratings since then, continuing its improvement.
