Ryde's winning fours crews at Newport Regatta

High hopes for Southsea Regatta

Thanks to Steve for this latest report from Ryde Rowing Club. Ed

There was disappointment for the Wightlink sponsored Ryde Rowing Club team who were scheduled to race at Bournemouth Regatta on Saturday, 9th July – when the Regatta was cancelled on the Friday before due to the adverse weather forecast.

It was particularly disappointing for the Club’s newly promoted Men’s Coastal Junior Four who were looking to compete at this level for the first following their win at Newport Regatta and for the two Junior Coastal Ladies crews who have been promoted to this status this season – one of whom also won at Newport – and for the Men’s Senior Four who were looking forward to renewing their challenge for the top status following their win at Newport.

Southsea Regatta
They will now all have to wait for this coming Saturday’s Regatta (16th July) at Southsea – which is the largest one-day rowing regatta in the country – where the two South Coast Rowing Association Clubs compete together for the only time before the South Coast Rowing Championships taking place in Herne Bay on Saturday, 3rd September.
