The acclaimed artist, Jacqui Adams, celebrated for her triumphant victory in the Monkton Arts Prize 2022, is set to host an exhibition of her work in the Acons Gallery at Monkton Arts, Ryde. The event runs from 7th to 18th August.
Stitched together narratives
Her exhibition, titled “Fragments,” invites audiences into a personal journey shaped by a textile narrative.
A story of resilience and survival is meticulously woven together through fragments of Jacqui’s family history, drawing the viewer into an intimate dialogue with the past.
Reflecting on the echoes of the past
Central to Jacqui’s body of work is an event dating back to 6th March 1945 in East London. A devastating V2 rocket attack left her mother as the sole survivor, with the ripple effects of the event shaping their lives in profound ways.
Jacqui’s textiles offer a powerful testament to the enduring impact of history on our identities, encouraging viewers to reflect on societal narratives and the ways we remember and recount our own histories.
Unveiling and Celebrating Artistic Excellence
The grand opening of this thought-provoking exhibition takes place from 6pm on Monday 7th August 2023.
Parallel Exhibitions of Artistic Prowess
In conjunction with Jacqui’s exhibition, the Acons Gallery will also feature the work of the 2022 Children’s Prize winner, Camryn Staley.
Displayed in the Sara K Children’s Gallery, the eponymous exhibition “Camryn Staley” will run in parallel to Jacqui’s showcase.
A Display of Youthful Imagination
Camryn’s exhibit features iPad-rendered fantasy landscapes, a testament to the boundless creativity of youth.
Her vibrant, whimsical creations are expected to captivate visitors and add a colourful contrast to the parallel exhibition.
The grand opening of Camryn’s exhibition will take place at 5pm on 7th August 2023.
