As you may have heard Cross Street, Ryde was closed on Friday due to a hole appearing in the road.
The hole, apparently 2ft wide, is being investigated by the Highways Dept, who estimate that the road could be closed for about a week.
Buses are being diverted
While the closure is in force, routes from Ryde will divert via Ryde Esplanade to St Thomas Street, left into Lind Street then operate normal line of route.
Routes into Ryde will divert from George Street right into Melville Street left into Dover Street then left along Ryde Esplanade to resume normal line of route.
Road closure diversions for other traffic
The council have provided details of diversions for other traffic.
Heavy traffic: George Street, Star Street, Park Road, Benett Street, St Johns Road, Green Street, West Street, Lind Street and St Thomas Square
Light traffic: Melville Street, Dover Street, Esplanade, St Thomas Street and St Thomas Square OR George Street, Star Street, High Street, Green Street, West Street, Lind Street and St Thomas Square
The one-way restriction in Castle Street between Union Street and Union Road will be temporarily reversed for the duration of these works to enable access to premises in Castle Street and Union Road.
