There was a fire on a houseboat moored in Bembridge last night. It was deemed sufficiently bad that Police closed the road, leading to bus diversions.
The Island Fire brigade was alerted to the fire at 8:12, sending three fire engines to tackle the blaze.
By 11pm just one pump was left, the one from Bembridge, which stayed to continue damping it down.
Two hose reels, four sets of breathing equipment and thermal imaging equipment were used.
Happily no people were reported on board.
