How Commonwealth citizens on the Isle of Wight can vote in the UK election

Commonwealth citizens living on the Isle of Wight — did you know that living in the UK means you have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming general election on 4th July?

To take part, you must register to vote by Tuesday at 11.59pm (that’s just before midnight).

Eligibility criteria
Commonwealth citizens can register as Parliamentary and local government electors if they meet age and residence requirements and are not subject to any legal incapacity.

To qualify, individuals must either not require permission to enter or remain in the UK, or have been granted the necessary permissions to do so.

Types of leave
Any type of leave to enter or remain in the UK is acceptable for registration purposes, whether it is indefinite, time-limited, or conditional.

This ensures a broad range of Commonwealth citizens (from 56 countries) can exercise their right to vote.

Registration deadline
The deadline for registration is critical.

Eligible Commonwealth citizens need to complete their registration by 11.59pm on Tuesday (18th June 2024) to ensure their participation in the election.

Importance of voting
Voting is a fundamental democratic right.

Commonwealth citizens living in the UK are encouraged to take this opportunity to have their voices heard in the upcoming general election.
