HRH The Duke of Edinburgh visited the Royal Yacht Squadron IW Foundation at the RYS Castle, Cowes last week.
The Foundation was established in 2015 to mark the bi-centenary of the Royal Yacht Squadron.
During his visit, HRH had a short working lunch with key volunteers and the Commodore of the RYS.
HRH then met trustees and volunteers, training providers from schools and colleges, local employers and some of the young people who have been helped.
Met with apprentices
He then travelled by launch to Clare Lallow Boatyard, where he met three RYS Foundation sponsored apprentices and their supervisors in their workplace.
Support for young people
If you know of any young person from the Isle of Wight who may be facing a financial barrier to finding employment in the maritime sector, please get in touch.
The RYS Foundation may be able to help with course fees, IT support, toolkits, transport costs or simply a bit of informal advice and maybe a useful connection.
