If you have heard a rumour that St Mary’s Hospital will no longer be doing walk-in blood tests, we have good news for you.
After being contacted by a concerned resident, News OnTheWight got in touch with Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight NHS told News OnTheWight,
“Our outpatients phlebotomy clinic at St Mary’s continues to operate as a walk-in service and over the past two years, we have worked in partnership with Hampshire and Isle of Wight CCG to extend phlebotomy services on the Island.
“This means residents over the age of 12 can access GP requested blood tests at their registered GP Practice in a safe and timely way, closer to home.”
News OnTheWight have asked whether there are plans in the future for the walk-in service to be ceased and will update once we hear back.
A reminder that if you need to have a blood test at your GP Practice they need to be booked in advance and are generally do not offer a walk-in service.
