An appeal for more information is being made by police investigating a series of criminal damage and attempted car thefts in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.
Four cars parked in Wheeler Way, Green Lane and Whitecross Avenue respectively were damaged over the weekend of Friday, July 8, Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, 2011.
One car freewheeled
Nothing was reported stolen from inside the cars but it appears attempts were made to tamper with each car and start them.
One of the cars, a Mitsubishi saloon, was freewheeled into a nearby road, Downland View, and then abandoned.
Police have carried out forensic and house-to-house enquiries in the local community over the past fortnight. A wider appeal for information is now being made to support ongoing lines of enquiry.
“Damaged my livelihood”
One of the vehicle owners, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “Whoever was responsible for this damage did not realise the fact that they affected more than just a van. I need this vehicle to work and earn a living. Their thoughtless actions have damaged my livelihood and that has an effect on my entire family.”
