Island Line Trains Running Through The Night

Island Line Trains got back to us with an update on their service.

Island Line Trains Running Through The NightAmazingly they say that they’re still running – in fact they appear to be the only transport running on the Isle of Wight.

(Adam Manning told us via Twitter that the 8:45pm from Ryde Esplanade was cancelled as they were unfreezing the points)

They told us that at about 11pm they had taken a train through to Shanklin which had about ten people onboard.

Through the night
The plan is to run trains through the night. Not just so people can get around, but to ensure that too much snow doesn’t settle on the line, causing them to get stranded.

When we asked how often they thought trains should run, they told us they weren’t sure.

UPDATE 00:28: Clive Bishop’s just told us that the train has just gone past the end of his garden – so we know it’s defo running.

Who knows, if word gets around that they are running, it could be quite a party … or at least a chance of transport for the desperate.

Tomorrow – less trains
It’s likely that the Island Line service will be a reduced service tomorrow.
