Keep Island Line Franchise meeting - Shanklin theatre - 12 Aug 2015

Island Line WILL be included in next Rail Franchise

This evening, at the packed meeting to discuss the future of Island Line, Cllr Steve Stubbings delivered very positive news to those at the meeting.

He read out an email that he’d received following meetings and discussions had been held with the Department for Transport.

This has come as quite a surprise as all of the talk so far, initiated by the Island’s MP Andrew Turner, was that this was a lost cause.

Later in his well-received speech, Cllr Stubbings went on to tell the audience,  “Only way to remove it from the franchise would be to close it. ”

I should have said that was a cut and paste from IWCP where I posted too. The ‘disingenuous’ refers to their description of the Billings Group as “Isle of Wight developers”. It made them sound like caulkheads, when the reality is they are based elsewhere and seek only to develop on the Island.
