Best of luck to John Rayment who will be walking from Ryde to Yarmouth as part of his 6,000 round the coast of Great Britain in aid of several Parkinsons charities.
Ryde is known as ‘the Gateway to the Isle of Wight’ due to its Victorian pier where the Wightlink passenger ferry arrives. Hovertravel’s Hover also has a terminal here.
The shopping in Ryde is well-renowned with lots of independent shops.
Ryde has very large, shallow beaches and parks to match, making it a popular destination during the summer.
It’s also the largest conurbation on the Isle of Wight.
