One of the events at next week’s Isle of Arts Festival that has really captured our interest is the celebration of the life and work of creator of Dracula.
On Friday evening, a hundred years to the day of Bram Stoker’s death, his great grandson, Noel Dobbs (who lives on the Island), will be giving a personal introduction to the novelist. This will be followed by a talk from Stoker expert Brian J. Showers and all takes place in Ventnor Library from 6.30pm.
Silent movie with live musical accompaniment
The fun doesn’t end there though, because as darkness falls, festival-goers will head through town to St Catherine’s Church for a very special screening of the original Dracula movie – Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
The 1922 silent classic will be enhanced with live musical accompaniment of pianist Mick Smith (anyone who saw him play alongside Piccadilly at Quay Arts last year will agree that it was an amazing experience).
