Bella Grace, an illustrator from the Isle of Wight, has described designing the official Wimbledon 2024 poster as the highlight of her career.
A lifelong tennis fan, Bella was approached by the event organisers to create the artwork, drawing inspiration from iconic Wimbledon trophies.
Detailed and thematic design
Her poster features flowers, tennis courts, and a trophy, incorporating elements of English gardens.
The design includes hydrangeas made from scorecards, tennis racket agapanthus, and Rufus the Hawk, Wimbledon’s pigeon-control bird.
Bella revealed that there are 14 hidden tennis elements within the design, representing each day of the championship from 1st to 14th July.
Honoured and excited
Wimbledon praised the poster for its “intricate details and hidden layers”.
Competing against other artists and agencies, Bella said she was thrilled to learn her design was chosen. She said,
“I’m completely honoured to have this opportunity.”
Her passion for tennis began in her childhood when she volunteered as a ball girl at the Eastbourne International tournament.
A fulfilling moment
Seeing her artwork displayed at Wimbledon was a proud moment for Bella. She said,
“To see it here and people taking photos of it is just a dream come true.”
Attending the event with her husband, she described the experience as “a really big deal”.
