Each year at the Isle of Wight Book Awards prize-giving lunch, a different charity are invited along to be the beneficiary of funds raised, this year it was the turn of Isle of Wight Search and Rescue, a voluntary charity that do great work assisting Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and other agencies in searches for vulnerable missing persons on the Isle of Wight.
Inspiring presentation
At the beginning of the lunchtime event, unit secretary Jenny Johnston (pictured centre) gave an inspiring presentation about the work done and equipment used by the organisation.
The assembled authors and guests then had a chance to purchase raffle tickets for a selection of prizes donated by local businesses.
Money was also raised from the sale of the judges’ copies of the books submitted for entry. A grand total of £630 was raised.
