Isle of Wight Car Club: Knighton sand pit autotest

Thanks to John for sharing details of the latest autotest by the Isle oF Wight Car Club. Ed

The weather forecast earlier in the week was wet and windy for the coming weekend’s racing to be held by the Isle of Wight Car Club, but as the weekend drew closer the weather changed to sunny and it was needed as the surface was wet and slippery for the first three runs.

As the sand and dirt came off the surface and the sun dried it out the grip levels came up and the run times came down.

The first of the quickest run times were set by Andy Williams in his Special and John Dutch in his Mini who continued to trade fastest times throughout the day. They were closely followed by Darren Taylor and Neil Glasbey who were having a close battle of their own for 3rd and 4th overall and followed by Steve Brett.

The Final overall positions were as follows

1st Andy Williams on a 1:17:21
2nd John Dutch on a :1:17:52
3rd Darren Taylor on a 1:20:47
4th Neil Glasbey on a 1:20:86
5th Steve Brett on a 1:23:59
