Floral tributes have been laid by the chairperson of the Isle of Wight Council, Cllr Claire Critchison, and High Sheriff, Kay Marriott, as a mark of respect to Her Majesty, The Queen.
Each laid a posy of white lilies and roses at Church Litten, in Newport, where many residents have paid tribute by laying flowers and writing messages.
The tributes come as the Island, and the nation, shares its grief over the death of the long-reigning monarch on Thursday.
Marriott: Her Majesty will be greatly missed
Mrs Marriott said,
“Her Majesty will be greatly missed, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family and the people of our Island community, to whom she meant so much.”
Cllr Critchison said,
“For those who wish to lay flowers in remembrance or take a moment of reflection, Church Litten is a peaceful and accessible place to be able to do this. Thank you to those that have made this possible.”
A card placed by the chairman, read,
“Thank you ma’am for your service. With best wishes from the Isle of Wight Council and the community.”
Flowers or donations
Residents are welcome to lay floral tributes at the park or may wish to consider making a small donation to a charity supported by the Royal Family.
